PATC and The Project Fund: A part of Danish development aid

The official Danish development assistance amounts to a total of €1,9 billion in 2009. PATC administers about 0,5% of this through the Project Fund. Still, it is an important funding mechanism for the small and medium sizied Danish CSOs. Click on picture to enlarge and learn more.

PATC is part of the overall Danish development assistance. We are therefore subject to the Civil Society Strategy and other strategies and policies adopted by the Danish government and parliament.

That does not mean that the Project Council does not have it’s own opinions! The governmental strategies are often quite spacious and open to interpretation. Therefore, we have formulated our own views on how the overall framework should be interpreted as the result is good professionalism in aid work.

      A hierarchy of documents

      • The “Civil society strategy” provides the overarching framework for the part of governmental assistance, channelled through the Danish civil society. The strategy is also guiding the Danish embassies management of their own development funds. Download document.

      • General principles: In the document “General principles for support to development activities through the Danish civil society organisations” the Foreign Ministry has described how aid should be distributed and managed within the framework of Civil Society Strategy. • Position papers: In our own position papers PATC has formulated its own interpretation of how key concepts in development work as advocacy and sustainability should be interpreted. The goal is to give member organisations, the Project Fund allocation system and our own NGO consultants a common technical framework to work on. • In the 'Guidelines for The Project Fund' is the above documents fleshed out in precise requirements and assessment criteria as the basis for evaluation of applications for the Project Fund. Read more.
